Bundesliga Coaches Light Up Borussia Academy Singapore

This week, Borussia Academy Singapore was buzzing with excitement as we welcomed a very special delegation all the way from Germany. For four unforgettable days, our young athletes had the unique opportunity to train under the guidance of top youth coaches from Borussia Mönchengladbach, one of Germany’s most storied Bundesliga clubs.

Leading the visiting team was Wolfgang "Wolle" Heilmann, Head of International Football Schools at Borussia Mönchengladbach. It was thanks to Wolle’s leadership and passion for youth football that this exceptional coaching team made the journey to Singapore — and what a week it was!

"Coach Wolle made every session fun. We learned so much, but it never felt like a classroom. We were always moving, laughing and improving!" said Ari from Borussia Academy’s B11 Puma Youth Champions League team.

Joining Wolle were several outstanding coaches who each brought their own unique expertise and energy to the sessions:

• Patrick Herrmann — Former Bundesliga professional with over a decade at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Patrick captivated the kids with stories from his professional career, offering invaluable insights and motivation for all aspiring young players. His hands-on approach and constant encouragement made a lasting impression on our players.

• Dirk Valley — A familiar face at Borussia Academy Singapore, Dirk returned for his fourth visit, once again delivering top-level training and technical sessions that challenged and inspired both new and returning players.

• Tom Bleck — Making his debut in Singapore, Tom brought fresh perspectives, infectious enthusiasm and sharp technical drills that had our players fully engaged from start to finish.

Throughout the camp, the coaches were highly impressed by the level of play, determination and resilience shown by all participants. "The kids’ skills, their attitude on the pitch and their willingness to learn were truly outstanding," Coach Wolle shared.

As the camp concluded, both players and coaches left with new experiences, improved skills and many great memories. A heartfelt thank you to all parents for your support and to our Borussia Academy Singapore players — you made us proud.

And we’re not done yet!

Our Pre-Season Camp kicks off on August 5th, led by none other than Coach Bakary, former Bundesliga professional with Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05, who trained under legendary coach Jürgen Klopp. This is the perfect way to get fit, sharpen your skills, and gear up for an exciting new season of football.

Special June Camp - Train with Top Coaches from Bundesliga Club Borussia M'Gladbach/Germany

Borussia Academy Singapore is excited to welcome a team of top German coaches from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Singapore this June!

From 17–20 June 2025, four highly experienced, UEFA-licensed coaches will join our Borussia Academy Singapore team for a special edition of our annual football camp. This is a rare opportunity for our players to train under the guidance of experts from one of Germany’s most respected Bundesliga clubs.

Advanced skills training with Coach Bakary

Elevating Football to the Next Level

This January, Borussia Academy Singapore kicked off a brand-new Advanced Skills Training program with none other than Coach Bakary—a former Bundesliga player with an impressive footballing pedigree. His experience playing at the highest level of German football brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Academy.

Coach Bakary has spent years perfecting his craft, and his approach to training reflects his professional background. His emphasis on precision, technique, and game intelligence makes his sessions truly unique and impactful.

The first sessions of this advanced program are officially done and dusted, with a focus on refining footwork and ball control—two pillars of success for any aspiring footballer. And the feedback from our players? Outstanding.

Our players described the sessions as "high intensity," "challenging," and, most importantly, as having a real impact on their development.

Coach Bakary’s Monday sessions are currently fully booked, demonstrating the excitement and demand for this specialised training.

Welcome Bakary Diakité to Borussia Academy Singapore!

Borussia Academy Singapore is thrilled to announce the newest addition to our coaching staff: Bakary Diakité, a former Bundesliga professional football player with a wealth of experience both on and off the field.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Bakary’s professional playing career is nothing short of impressive. He made a name for himself in the Bundesliga, representing iconic clubs such as Mainz 05, and Eintracht Frankfurt. During his time at Mainz 05, Bakary was coached by none other than Jürgen Klopp, a relationship that profoundly shaped his understanding of the game. His skill, determination, and passion for football left a lasting impression on teammates and fans alike.

Beyond his playing career, Bakary has been equally dedicated to nurturing the next generation of footballers. Before relocating to Singapore, he lived with his family in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he coached young footballers. There, he inspired young players to reach their potential, sharing his professional insights and fostering a love for the beautiful game.

Bakary’s arrival marks an exciting chapter for Borussia Academy Singapore. His deep understanding of the sport, combined with his experience under top-tier coaches and years spent mentoring young talent, will greatly enhance our program. In addition to his other responsibilities, Bakary will lead our advanced skills training sessions exclusively for advanced players - by invitation only.

Bakary shares his excitement about joining the academy: “I’m very happy to join Borussia Academy in Singapore. I can’t wait to share my experience and everything I’ve learned while playing at the top level. I had amazing coaches like Jürgen Klopp, for example, and I know what it takes to get far in football. I’m very much looking forward to meeting everyone and working with the kids.”
